So This is Christmas

What do you do over the long British Christmas Holiday? Simple:

You get off the couch;

Check out some street art;

Grab yourself some coffee with sweet bread (or tea);

And run off to see some castles. In our case, it was 4 castles... yes, 4 castles. The first was beautiful Leeds, one of the few with a moat. Being in a moated castle feels like being on a yacht. Especially when you peer out the armored(armoured) windows in the many antique ornate rooms.

Next, we went to Canterbury Chaple. I know what your thinking. Canterbury though rich in history(Canterbury Tales, Christian saint/martyrdom site), but sprinkled throughout the town are large remnants of the fortified castle walls, started by the Romans and added to in medieval times.

Then we took a tea break(proper tea time 3:00).

The third castle we cruised by was at the White Cliffs of Dover. Which was used during World War II, partially because it is the closest point to France, you can even see France from the shore (well not the day we were there).

We topped it all off with ice skating in the moat at the Tower of London. Nothing makes you feel more like royalty than ice skating less the 50 meters from the Crown Jewels.

This is what is called a staycation, and it was a good one. Only one thing left to do...bring in the New Year

St Ives

Love this town. There's almost as many little art galleries as people.

Lost in the "Worlds Most Famous" Garden Maze

Can't believe we had not visited Hampton Court Palace yet.

This place is the best! We saw Aragon from Lord of the Rings not to mention King Henry the 8th, got lost in a maze and finished it off with tea and scones in the palace kitchen...NICE!
